New sport-specific safeguarding training course announced by BSUK

BaseballSoftballUK has announced a new safeguarding training course, "Safe On Base", which replaces the Time to Listen training that has been delivered for many years.

BSF mandates helmets with faceguards for Under-18 players in 2024

The BSF Executive has decided that, starting in 2024, all under-18 players in both fastpitch and slowpitch softball must wear helmets with faceguards when batting or baserunning. This equipment can now be sourced in the UK at reasonable cost.

A webinar on concussion issues in softball was presented to the BSF AGM earlier this year by an experienced Canadian physiotherapist, Jessica Mancini. The PowerPoint slides from this presentation are now available to any softball club or league that would like to have them.

Run the Bases launches pilot programme in Malta

Run the Bases is a newly-formed sport development organisation that aims to tackle gender inequalities in sport through softball, and one of the key people behind it is former UCLA softball player Tara Henry, currently resident in the UK and providing occasional coaching support for BSUK's Academy Softball.

BSF looking for Safeguarding Liaison Officer

The British Softball Federation wishes to appoint a Safeguarding Liaison Officer (SLO) to play an essential role in fulfilling the BSF's commitment to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults. The SLO will oversee the implementation of the Joint Safeguarding Policy on behalf of the BSF and will work directly with BaseballSoftballUK's Lead Welfare Officer.
