Play-by-play updates from all European Softball Federation competitions this summer will be available online on the ESF website, as well as live broadcasts of games from the final two days of the 2011 European Women's Championships in Italy.

The GB Women's Team, hoping to finish in the top three at the Women's Championship and qualify for the 2012 World Championships, could be involved in those broadcasts.

The European Women's Championship, with 20 participating countries, will be the largest European softball event this summer.

You can follow live games on: http://competition.europeansoftball.org/video on August 5 and 6.

Marketing plan

This new service by the ESF is the result of a marketing plan for the organisation that began last year with live streaming of the finals of the European Women's A Pool Cup and Cup-Winners Cup from Haarlem in the Netherlands.

According to ESF Vice President for Marketing Michael Schmidt, "It's great for everyone to be able to follow what's happening in a game, from anywhere in the world, and live."

ESF President Andre van Overbeek termed the new initiative "fantastic, and a breakthrough in media interest for softball."
