BaseballSoftballUK is excited to announce the appointment of Jayde Ellis to the role of Development Manager.

Personal history

Born in Australia, Ellis joins BaseballSoftballUK after four and a half years at Marylebone Cricket Club, where she was both a coach and Youth Development Manager. A native of Sydney, New South Wales, Ellis has spent much of her career in sports and education, with a particular focus on using sports as a force for good in the community. Ellis also has an extensive charity background, with several her previous roles focusing on inclusion and diversity.

Ellis is a lifelong softball player, starting at age of 10, and playing for North Shore District Softball Association in NSW growing up. In her free time, Ellis is an avid sportsperson, and can usually be found seeking opportunities to get into the ocean, or on the hunt for good coffee.

In her role at BaseballSoftballUK, Ellis will primarily be responsible for Development in the South East, East of England, and Essex, with a specific remit to support the growth of the legacy programmes created during the Mitel & MLB presents London Series 2019. She will also have a key focus on creating connections between the baseball and softball community and the greater sporting community at large.

Comment

"I'm really looking forward to joining BSUK and hitting the ground running!” said Ellis. “Having grown up playing fastpitch softball, I can't wait to build on the momentum BSUK has already gained and play a part in bringing these great sports closer to the heart of the UK sport landscape."

BaseballSoftballUK Head of Development Chris Rawlings said, “Jayde will be a great addition to our Development Team. She brings a wealth of sports development experience allied with a strong skill set and passion for our sports. Her work will centre on support to the clubs and leagues in London, Essex, and the East of England as well as focused work in London on maximising legacy plans from the MLB London series.”

Rawlings added, “Jayde is well connected with many of the organisations we want to partner with to grow the reach and profile of baseball and softball into new communities. Being able to attract someone of Jayde’s calibre is a great sign of the work BaseballSoftballUK is doing, and I am excited to see her grow into the role in the coming months.”
