The Greater London Softball Mixed League (GLSML) is London’s best open league, and every spring they organise a day for new players to try the sport.  If you would like to join a team or give softball a go, then the GLSML New Players Day is the way to do it.

This year, the GLSML New Players Day will take place on Sunday 2 April on Wandsworth Common, by The Hope Pub on Bellevue Road, starting at 2.00 pm.  And it’s absolutely free!

New to the game?

The aim of the day is to match new players and existing league teams.  We will try to make sure you are introduced to teams that match your ability and location as well as the level of competition you’re looking for.

For those who are brand new to softball, there will be an introduction to the game and fielders’ gloves will be provided on request.  The aim is to get people up and running with the basics of softball and give them a taste of why it’s such a great game to play.

Softball is a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, learn a new game, have a bit of a run-around and spend some of your summer evenings outdoors.

This will be followed by some batting and fielding drills, then a friendly pick-up game to give you a chance to show off your skills.

The atmosphere is always very relaxed and we’re looking for players of all abilities.  So if you’ve been playing for years, haven’t played for a long time or never held a bat before, there will be something for you.

After playing ball for a couple of hours we’ll over the road for some hard-earned refreshments.
