Although they will not be training together or playing in any competitions this summer, the GB Under-18 Women’s Team is the latest to announce the selections they had made for the 2020 season so that the selected athletes can be recognised.

Until recently, team staff had held out hope that the team could attend an Under-18 event in July in California to start the preparation process for next year’s European Under-18 Championship, and the selection announcement was delayed until that was resolved.  But a decision was finally taken on 22 May that the state of the pandemic here and in the United States made playing in that competition impossible.

Next year

In 2021, assuming that the Covid-19 pandemic will have subsided to the point where international competition can resume, the GB Under-18 Women will play in the European Under-18 Women’s Championship from 5-10 July in Prague, Czech Republic.  The tournament will be a qualifier for the WBSC Under-18 Women’s World Cup in 2022.

Trial dates and procedures for all GB Teams for 2021 will be announced later this year.
