BaseballSoftballUK, the national development agency for baseball and softball, is excited to announce the return of the Farnham Park Girls Softball Series– a four-week after-school fastpitch league at the Farnham Park National Baseball & Softball Complex.

As part of BSUK' goal to promote and oversee fastpitch opportunities, the agency will offer both a four-week Series at Farnham Park and in-school sessions, available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The Series is designed for girls aged 10-12, or Years 6 & 7 for the in-school sessions.

The Farnham Park Girls Softball Series will focus on in-game scenarios and competing, with skills picked up through ithe n-school sessions. While participation is encouraged, attending the in-school sessions is not a necessity to compete in the Series.

Overseeing the league and in-school sessions will be expert BSUK coaches led by Fastpitch Development Manager and professional player for Olympia Haarlem, Alyson Spinas-Valainis.

The in-school sessions are designed for beginning or casual players looking to develop a basic understanding of fastpitch softball.  Acting as a lead-in to the Farnham Park Girls Softball Series, in-school sessions are the perfect introduction to the sport.  Through taking part in hitting, defense, baserunning, pitching and catching drills, students will get up and moving and will learn a number of useful skills to employ both on and off the field.  The in-school sessions are an hour-long, and an outdoor area is required to maximise the programme experience.

About the Instructor:

Lead instructor Alyson Spinas-Valainis (they/them) is the current Fastpitch Development Manager for BaseballSoftballUK and the British Softball Federation as well as a professional player for Olympia Haarlem in the Netherlands’ Golden League. They are also the pitching coach for the Great Britain Men's National Team and Co-Head Coach in BSUK’s Academy and High-Performance Academy (HPA).
