BaseballSoftballUK is excited to announce that the Coach Summit 2022 will be held online, launching on 29 January 2022.  Following last year's highly successful Coach Summit, the 2022 Summit will return online and feature webinars, keynote speeches and workshops intended to support coaches through an ongoing programme of learning opportunities. Sessions will run from January through March in order to make sure the entire baseball and softball community has a chance to attend.

This year’s Summit will revolve around three major themes: Adaptation, Relevance and Resilience, focusing on how coaching baseball and softball can be tailored to today’s challenging circumstances. Each of the keynote speakers will focus on these themes in their sessions, and participants are encouraged to bring related questions.

The opening session of Coach Summit 2022 will take place from 3.00-6.00 pm GMT on Saturday 29 January 2022, and will feature a number of keynote speakers, including Andre Lachance of Baseball Canada, Head Coach Rachael Watkeys of the GB Senior Women’s Fastpitch Softball Team, currently ranked 15th in the world, and GB Baseball Head Coach Drew Spencer, fresh off GB Baseball’s best finish at the Men’s European Baseball Championships in 14 years.

For the first time ever, the Summit will be free to attend for EVERYONE, and it it is especially encouraged for any club that is a member of the Development Charter, including all British Baseball and British Softball Federation clubs. British Baseball & Softball Coaching Awards presented by Baseball Outlet

The seventh annual British Baseball & Softball Coaching Awards presented by Baseball Outlet will be announced in the week leading up to 29 January 2022. Nominations for the awards are open now and will be available until midnight on 10 January 2022.

The Awards for this year are as follows:

  • Young Coach of the Year: The coach aged 25 or younger (formerly aged 22 or younger) deemed to have made the biggest contribution to coaching, managing and supporting baseball and/or softball in Britain.
  • Baseball Youth Coach of the Year: Outstanding contribution to coaching young people in baseball in Britain.
  • Softball Youth Coach of the Year: Outstanding contribution to coaching young people in softball in Britain.
  • Baseball Adult Coach of the Year: Outstanding contribution to adult baseball coaching in Britain.
  • Softball Adult Coach of the Year: Outstanding contribution to adult softball coaching in Britain.
  • Volunteer of the Year: A volunteer in a non-coaching role who has given up a substantial amount of time to support their local club, team or league and who has made a significant impact on the development of our sports.
  • Services to Coaching: The individual who best personifies what it means to be a baseball or softball coach: someone who understands their sport and can use the lessons learned on the pitch to motivate and engage others. They have probably played a great number of roles, and without whose services to coaching, your club, your league or perhaps even your national teams wouldn’t be the same.
