The British Softball Federation will be running an equipment donation campaign throughout the 2011 season under the slogan "Bring a Bat, Give a Glove!" to provide equipment to new softball teams and leagues just starting out in the UK.

For some years, the International Softball Federation (ISF) has helped developing softball federations around the world by passing on used softball equipment donated at the end of each season by US schools and colleges. Now the BSF plans to take a leaf out of their book and provide a way for British softball players with equipment they no longer need to donate used gloves and bats by bringing them to major tournaments during the 2011 season.

Equipment collection

At every BSF-run event this season, and at other tournaments where the organisers have agreed to participate in the programme, there will be a kitbag on site for the collection of donated items. The kitbags will be brought to a central point for renovation and then sorted for distribution.

The BSF will collect, clean, repair and package the equipment and distribute it to leagues and teams that are just starting out and lack the resources to afford complete sets of new (and expensive) equipment.

The BSF -- and the developing teams -- thank you in advance for any contribution you can make to this initiative.
