BeBe's Kidz, the German-based slowpitch club that sends a team to our Softball World Series every year and is behind the Home Runs for Kids charity concept, is organising the third annual BBK Jamboree Co-ed Slowpitch Tournament on the weekend of July 30-31 in Oldenzaal in the Netherlands -- and British teams are invited.

This isn't co-ed slowpitch as we know it, however -- teams only need to have two female players on the field at a time, and the pitching arc is limited to 10 feet.

The entry fee is 100 euros, and the deadline for entry is June 15. The tournament will be played on the diamonds at the Run 71 Baseball and Softball Club in Oldenzaal. A number of local hotels are available in different price brackets.

Tournament rules

Some of the key tournament rules are:

-- Only 12" balls will be used for all batters.
-- Batters must enter the batter's box within 10 seconds; otherwise a strike will be called.
-- Home runs are limited to six per inning; after that, a ball hit over the fence is an out.
-- Pitchers can announce their intention to walk a batter, and the batter goes directly to the appropriate base.
-- Teams can have one EP and a batting order of 11 (there doesn't have to be male and female EPs).
