Agenda items to be discussed, based on motions from the BASU Committee, will include a disciplinary code and penalties for umpires that break it, umpire uniform requirements, payments for "stand-in" umpires, Umpire Assessor payments, identifying banned bats and BASU support for umpire travel to European competitions.

Other discussion items will include a proposal for an advanced level BASU course, bolstering the number of fastpitch umpires and the possibility of universal tournament rules to be applied throughout British softball.

Elections for positions on the BASU Committee for 2012 will also be held.

Help needed

BASU Secretary Robyn Belt said: "There is always room for more help on the Committee, so if you have a bit of time and feel you have something to offer, please do let us know.  It would be especially good to have representatives from all the regions at the AGM so we can keep in touch with what is going on on a regional level and vice versa.

"And," Robyn added, "the AGM is the place to air any views you have regarding umpiring."
