GB Juniors gift playoff game to Holland

The GB Junior (Under-19) Women's Fastpitch Team failed to support a fine effort by pitcher Ellie Pamenter and gifted the first game of the second round playoffs at the European Junior Championships to Holland on Wednesday by a score of 10-1. The GB Team now has to win their remaining two second round games to have a chance at reaching the final Page Playoff and qualiying for the 2013 Women's World Championships.

The GB Men's Fastpitch Team got off to a flying start at the 2012 European Men's Championships and World Championship Qualifier on Tuesday at Amstelveen in The Netherlands with a pair of wins over current European Champions Denmark and Croatia.

The GB Junior (Under-19) Women's Fastpitch Team had every chance on Tuesday against a Czech Republic team that was there for the taking -- but GB blew the opportunity and will have to settle for second place in Group C -- which will mean harder games when the the playoff round-robin begins on Wednesday.

The GB Junior (Under-19) Women's Team opened the European Junior Championships on Monday in Holland with a 14-0 mercy rule win over Israel. But things will get tougher from here.

GB Junior Women open at Euros

The GB Junior (Under-19) Women's Fastpitch Team will play their opening game at the 2012 European Junior Championship on Monday, July 23 at the Gryphons Softball Coub in Rosmalen, near Den Bosch in Holland. GB will take on Israel on Monday and the Czech Republic on Tuesday.

GB Men look for third straight World Championship qualification

The GB Men's Fastpitch Team will take a 17-strong squad, including 12 UK-based players, to the European Men's Fastpitch Championships in Amstelveen in the Netherlands, to be played from July 23-28. The GB Team will be looking to qualify for World Championships for the third straight time.

Clapham Thunder and Manchester Fish take titles at Windsor

The 2012 Windsor Tournament, played on the weekend of July 14-15 at the Berkshire County Cricket Club in Sonning, attracted 32 teams, who braved rainy conditions on Saturday, and were rewarded with sunshine on the Sunday. Clapham Thunder won the B-grade title and Manchester Fish were champions at C-grade.

GB Women lose final game to Australia

The GB Women's Fastpitch Team bowed out of the 2012 Women's World Championships with an 8-0 loss to Australia on Thursday and a 2-5 record overall, which will probably mean a 13th place finish. The team will look back on missed chances and defensive lapses that cost them the chance to finish higher, but there was never any margin for error in a pool loaded with top teams.

The British Softball Federation has announced that the Men's and Women's Slowpitch National Championships, scheduled for this weekend, July 21-22, at Burleigh Community College in Loughborough, have been cancelled due to saturated grounds caused by recent rain.
