Major League stars to run London youth clinics

Five Major League Baseball players, including Rick VandenHurk of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Jeremy Guthrie of the Kansas City Royals and Roger Bernadina of the Washington Nationals, will visit London on November 16 and 17 to participate in instructional clinics for young baseball and softball players. The clinics are part of the third annual European Big League Tour, which was conceived by Rick VandenHurk, a native of the Netherlands.

Girls’ Softball Camp on October 29 in Horsham

A Softball Camp for girls aged 8-16, run by qualified softball coaches, will be held at the Forest Recreation Centre in Horsham during half-term on Monday, October 29 from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm. The aim is to launch a new girls' softball team in Horsham.

Leeds Terriers win the Labor Day Tournament

A record 24 teams took part in the East Midlands Softball League's annual Labor Day Tournament on the weekend of September 15-16 at the University of Leicester in Oadby, with the title going to the Leeds Terriers for the second time since the tournament moved to Leicester three years ago.

Bristol Crushers take Cotswold autumn title

Two Bristol teams contested the final at the Cotswold Autumn Tournament, played in fine weather on Sunday, October 7 at Archway School in Stroud, and it was the Bristol Crushers who prevailed over the Bristol Phoenix to take the title.

Leicestershire wins the first Battle of the Shires

A unique event in the annals of British baseball and softball had its inception on Sunday, September 23 when Leicestershire met Nottinghamshire in the first 'Battle of the Shires' Challenge – a one-day, three-game series consisting of fastpitch softball, baseball and slowpitch softball, with both counties forming co-ed teams in each discipline.

IBAF and ISF sign merger agreement

The International Baseball Federation (IBAF) and the International Softball Federation (ISF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) outlining a procedure for establishing a new international federation (IF) to govern both baseball and softball, as required by the International Olympic Committee if the two sports are to be considered for a return to the Olympic programme in future.

The Dubliners Baseball and Softball Club in Brest, in the far north-west of Brittany, France is organising the first-ever "Phare Ouest" international indoor mixed fastpitch tournament, to be played on the weekend of January 12-13, 2013 -- and British teams are invited.
