Indoor fastpitch sessions under way in Chichester

Thu 8 Feb 2018

There seems to be no off-season in Chichester, with fastpitch softball activities continuing indoors at the local high school for both juniors and adults.

Having completed their usual eight-week indoor slowpitch league, the Junior Falcons have already started work in 2018, playing fastpitch softball on Thursday evenings, led by coaches David Morris and former junior player Olly Howley.

The Seniors fastpitch group, mostly made up of players with a slowpitch background, has also gotten started, with practice sessions and games on Wednesday evenings.

David Morris said, “We deliver the BaseballSoftballUK Academy throwing programme, and work on pitching every single week, mixed in with a few other drills and exercises to keep things moving.  It’s a good workout for the players and after three sessions everybody already has a grasp of pitching mechanics.  Hitting has been an eye-opener for some of the slowpitch players, but they are rising to the challenge, getting stuck in and improving every week.”

Once the six-week Seniors programme is complete, the Falcons can turn their attention to competing in the Great Britain Fastpitch League in the spring, as well as hosting their own co-ed fastpitch tournament in late August.
