Canada Cup Update: GB Take on Acers

Thu 11 Jul 2019

GB U18 Women played out their third game of the Canada Cup on Tuesday, taking on WA Acers at Cloverdale Athletic Park.

Megan Kyte got the offense going for the GB U18s, slashing the ball like a cantaloupe to centre right for a two-run double in the first inning to score Hannah Edwards and Claire Xavier. From there, the GB team's defense went to work, holding the Acers to one run over the next four frames, highlighted by an outfield assist from Sidney Rose on a play at the plate. Edwards also contributed on the defensive side of the ball, making every single out during the third inning.

While the Acers were able to take the lead in the fifth inning, the GB defense limited the damage with a 6-5-3 double play to end the action. Despite the final score of 4-2 Acers, the GB team fought to the end, and have now scored twice in each of their last two outings - a sure sign that the offense is trending upward.

Tomorrow, we'll have a report on the U18 GB Team after their game against the San Diego Renegades at Softball City on Wednesday.
