Belfast Aviators use local radio for recruiting campaign

The Belfast Aviators Softball Club, which plays in the Ulster Softball League run by Softball Ireland, is looking for new players for the 2013 season and has teamed up with Blast 106FM in Belfast to run a four-week radio campaign starting this month.

BSUK launches first National University Softball Championship.

BSUK will launch its first-ever National University Softball Championship in 2013. The tournament will be held on the wide open spaces at Birmingham City University Sports Ground on Sunday, March 24 and is open to students from all UK universities.

Photography competitions are back for 2013

The annual British Baseball and Softball Photography Competitions are back up and running for 2013. The competitions will be similar to last year's, with entrants being able to submit up to 24 photos during the contest, and £100 in photography vouchers on offer for the winners.

Chichester Falcons to host charity tournament

Chichester Falcons Softball Club from the Solent Softball League will be hosting a one-day corporate slowpitch tournament in aid of local charity Children on the Edge on April 14 at Chichester University.

Volunteers sought for GB Softball roles

The GB Management Committee (GBMC), founded in 2009, is a group of coaches, team managers and administrators who make policy decisions and provide oversight for softball national team programmes. In order to provide more support for national teams, the GBMC is looking for volunteers to carry out a number of operational roles that will help national team managers and coaches concentrate on their primary tasks of preparing teams for competition and achieving success at tournaments overseas.

Ex-softballer receives CBE in New Year Honours List

Ian Livingstone, a long-time pitcher for the Raiders Men's Slowpitch Team and the 69ers (more recently Niners) co-ed team in the 1980s and 90s, has been advanced from an OBE to a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the New Year Honours List for services to the computer gaming industry.

Slowpitch coaching available through the BSF

The British Softball Federation is offering to support the cost of a coaching clinic and game management assistance from GB Slowpitch Team coaches and players for a number of co-ed slowpitch teams at B-grade and C-grade level.

British softball community loses two members

The British softball community has suffered two very sad losses over the past few days, with news of the deaths of Manchester Thunder and GB Slowpitch Team player Zak Haq, and former Slammers and GB Women's Fastpitch Team player Fleur Edgerton-Meyer, who has lived and played softball in France for the past decade.
