WD13 wins the Spring Cotswold Tournament

Eight teams took part in the 2013 Cotswold Spring Tournament held on Sunday 30 June at Archway School in Stroud. WD13 were Champions, and The Locos won the Plate trophy.

Can GB Slowpitch win the Euros again?

GB Slowpitch Team members will be arriving in Pardubice in the Czech Republic over the next few days, ready for the attempt to win a ninth straight European Slowpitch Championship when the tournament starts on Wednesday 17 July.

ASA coaches enjoy good feedback on tour

Top ASA slowpitch coaches Steve Shortland and Cheryl Trapnell ended their UK tour on 4 July after delivering sessions to team coaches from nine different leagues, working with teams on strategy at two weekend tournaments, introducing the idea of 'diagnotics' to critique the strength and weaknesses of your own and other teams and also spending time with players from the GB Slowpitch Team.

20 teams at Leeds Tournament enjoy the sun

Leeds had the pleasure of welcoming 20 teams to the 2013 Leeds Softball Tournament held this year on the weekend of June 29-30 at a newly renovated Grange Park in Wetherby, with eight Comp teams and 12 Rec teams, featuring returning regulars and new teams alike.

H2O, Raiders Gold and Leeds Terriers win at Pioneers

Twenty-eight teams in A, B and C-grade divisions battled it out in sunshine and drizzle at the PSST! 2013 Tournament run by the Pioneers Softball Club at the University of Kent in Canterbury on the weekend of 22-23 June, with H2O, Raiders Gold and the Leeds Terriers taking the main trophies.

GB Players Need More Support

Those of you who saw the first issue of the GB Softball Newsletter at the end of May will know that, thanks to an unusual combination of circumstances, all seven GB fastpitch and slowpitch national teams are playing in official ESF or ISF competitions this year – the first time this has ever happened. A rough guesstimate has put the total travel costs for these seven teams at something over £100,000.

Chalfont Softball Club plans Junior Softball Nights

Young people in the Chiltern District will be encouraged to take up a new sport this summer when Chalfont Softball Club puts on a series of six Junior Softball Nights on Friday evenings during July and the first half of August, starting on 5 July, in an attempt to find the softball stars of the future.

Struggle is on for Premier Nationals places in the NSL

Just 13 National Softball League fixtures were played at the Pioneers Tournament on the weekend of June 22-23 in Canterbury, and H2O recorded a win and a draw to keep their place at the top of the NSL standings. But the real battle is the one shaping up for the last Premier Nationals places.
