The International Olympic Committee (IOC), meeting in Monaco on Monday 8 December, has approved a new Olympic bidding process and adopted a more flexible sports programme concept that could lead to the inclusion of baseball and softball at the 2020 Tokyo Games.

Brett Gibbens announces retirement from softball

Brett Gibbens, already a member of the British Softball Federation Hall of Fame and the best power hitter that British softball has ever produced, has announced his retirement from all forms of softball due to health issues which have already resulted in multiple knee operations.

GB Under-19s get experience in Paris

A mixed fastpitch team of GB Under-19 men and women got a great weekend of experience at the Tournoi de Fleur in Paris on 4-5 October. The team finished with a 2-3 record, but the exposure to international competition and the chance for the players to bond made the trip more than worthwhile.

England holds off USA to win 2014 World Series

England won the Trophy competition at the 16th Softball World Series Tournament on the weekend of 13-14 September, played at the venue formerly known as the British Airways Concorde Club, holding off the USA in a tense and close final by a score of 9-8.

The GB Under-16 Girls' Fastpitch Team will be holding a Fastpitch Softball Fitness and Skills Training Day on 27 September from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm at Farnham Park near Slough.

Japanese are World Champions once again

Japan is still the best softball team in the world, and Yukiko Ueno is still the world's best pitcher, and that's why Japan won its second straight World Championship here on Sunday afternoon, beating the USA in the Grand Final by 4-1.

Japan reaches final of World Championship

Rain washed out a whole day's play on Friday 22 August at the ISF Women's Fastpitch World Championships, and so eight exciting Championship Playoff games were crammed into Saturday. When they ended after midnight, Japan had reached Sunday's final, and Australia or the USA will join them.

Rain ends World Championship for GB Women

Heavy rain all day Friday at the ISF Women's Fastpitch World Championships have forced the organisers to cancel the Consolation Playoffs for the eight teams that failed to make the playoffs, so for the GB Women's Team, the tournament is over.
