    Softball has come to Hertfordshire!

    Softball has come to Hertfordshire! Beginner slowpitch sessions are now running every Wednesday evening in St Albans as part of BaseballSoftballUK’s development work. BSUK’s South East regional team is partnering with Active St Albans to secure funding as part of the Get Into Sport initiative, and the result is new teams of adult and youth co-ed softball players enjoying a fun yet competitive series of training and gameplay.

    Mid-week league softball returns to Birmingham

    A new Birmingham Softball League will be launched on Thursday June 21.  The league will be run for six weeks in an intra-club format, with support from BaseballSoftballUK, and the teams will be made up of new and existing members of the Birmingham Bobcats Softball Club.

    Birmingham Bobcats to run Women’s Softball 4 Beginners sessions

    Ever fancied playing a new sport with friends or family?  A six-week programme of Women’s Softball 4 Beginners sessions catering for female participants will be run by the Birmingham Bobcats from Thursday 17 May.  Any interested women aged 14 and older can join in the fun as a great way to try out a new sport and meet new people. The sessions are funded by Sportivate and are being run in partnership with BaseballSoftballUK.

    Manchester LGBT Softball Mini-League is now under way

    An LGBT Slowpitch SoftballMini- League aimed at complete beginners in Manchester is now under way, with one evening gone and two more to come.  The winning team will collect a £250 prize.

    GLSML Development Nights to begin on 11 June

    The Greater London Softball Mixed League will be starting its annual Monday night development sessions in Regents Park on 11 June.  The sessions will run for 11 weeks and are aimed at slowpitch softball beginners, people who have had limited experience with the sport and any players who want to improve their skills.

    BSF to run Corporate Softball Workshop for leagues at AGM

    Promoting and running local corporate softball events, with support from BSUK, can be a good way for slowpitch leagues to find new members and make some money. The BSF will be running a workshop session at the 2012 AGM on February 18 in Manchester designed to help leagues take on this activity.

    Indoor softball comes to the Second City

    The Birmingham Bobcats will be offering indoor softball sessions for the first time in the UK’s second city this winter and spring. Starting on January 10,  ten indoor sessions will be run at the Kingsbury School and Sports College in Erdington on Tuesday evenings from 7.00-8.00 pm.

    Softball League Heads Forum to expand its scope this year

    The British Softball Federation has scheduled the 2011 Softball League Heads Forum for Saturday, November 26 in Birmingham. The event will be expanded this year to include a workshop session on the National Softball League and consultation by BSUK on the 2013-2017 Whole Sport Plan.

    Trainee Community Coach completes a successful six months in the North West

    Baljit Ahluwalia was employed by BSUK from March to September this year via the Future Jobs Fund programme as a Community Baseball and Softball Coach, working mainly in Greater Manchester. The placement has now come to an end, but both Baljit and BSUK’s North West Regional Development Manager Luis Arrevillagas can look back on a very successful project.
