    Slovenia to host its first Open Co-ed Slowpitch Tournament in June

    The Slovenian Softball Federation, which has been one of the most successful countries in Europe over the past few years in developing slowpitch, will host its first Open co-ed slowpitch competition, the Fireball Tournament, on the weekend of June 18-19 in Ljubljana.

    Selection process under way for GB Fastpitch summer competitions

    Selections have been made for the GB Women’s Fastpitch Team that will compete in the Softball World Cup and European Championships this summer, and partial selections have been made for the GB Junior (Under-19) Girls’ Fastpitch Team that will travel to the Canada Cup and the GB Cadette (Under-16) Girls’ Fastpitch Team that will play in European Championships.

    GB Slowpitch London Player Clinic set for April 16

    The Great Britain Slowpitch Team will hold its annual London Player Clinic on Saturday, April 16 on Wandsworth Common North, open to players of all standards including beginners. Coaching on all aspects of the game will be provided by GB Slowpitch Team coaches, assisted by members of the squad.

    Softball photo contest will run again in 2011

    The second annual British Softball Photography Competition, run by the BSF and BSUK, will be staged in 2011 with an exciting change to the way the competition will be judged. This year, the judging panel will determine a shortlist, but the winning photos will be chosen by online public vote.

    Slowpitch clinic is received with enthusiasm in Switzerland

    An ESF Slowpitch Clinic, delivered at the Wittenbach Baseball and Softball Club near St Gallen, Switzerland by trainers from the British Softball Federation on March 19-20 was received with great enthusiasm by around 20 current and prospective slowpitch players.

    Combat slowpitch clinicians to visit Britain and Ireland under ESF-ASA agreement

    Top-level slowpitch player/coaches representing the bat manufacturer Combat Sports will spend 10 days in Great Britain and Ireland in May under an agreements between the ESF and the American Amateur Softball Association (ASA) to help softball development in Europe.

    London Fastpitch Softball League to expand to 12 teams and two divisions this year

    The London Fastpitch Softball League, which began in its current form last year with just five teams, is expanding to 12 adult teams and two divisions in 2011. Division 1 will consist of three men’s and three women’s teams while Division 2 will have six co-ed teams.

    Sportivate to provide sporting opportunities for teenagers and young adults

    A new Sport England initiative called Sportivate will give young people aged between 14 and 25 the chance to receive six-to-eight weeks of coaching in a sport of their choice and will support them to continue playing sport in their community after the coaching period ends.
